During this week the school was introduced to us by students and teachers.

We have seen how different workshops developed at school like painting, sculpture and graphic design.

Also, we started a  wall painting for decorating the volunteers room. On Monday we saw an independent day show witch is very typical of polish culture. In fact, the independence of this country was declared since 22 years ago and for Polish people it is one of the most important day of the year.

During pupils breaks they come to visit us and help us with our wall painting. We enjoy these times because they allow us to know more about them.

This week was for introduce us the school but now we have prepared a lot of plans for the coming weeks: language lessons, intercultural meetings, graphic design projects, etc.

FIRST WEEK
AT SCHOOL

JOURNEY

PREPARATION OF THE
AUCTION

The students told me about their desire to have a space for free expression. So we had the idea to create a wall of free expression witch pupils can draw whatever they want like for exemple characters and symbols they like. Some girls involve a lot and the wall advance faster than I thought. That is a great thing.

In a second part, we help to prepare the auction sale. For example, we created template witch are print on recycled pallets. We also helped pupils to create posters inspired by the 70-80 years in Poland and we started the restoration of a wall painted 30 years ago. The next week, we will start some workshops about French culture, How to make an interactive portfolio to promote his work and dramatics performance.

AUSCHWITZ

In the 10th of December we visited Auschwitz and Birkenau. One guide explained us the history of this infamous camps. It was a sad moment because when you go to this camp you realize how the life was awful and how many people died in a terrible way. To make a short sum up the guide explained us:

The post-camp relics are protected by the Museum created in 1947. The Memorial today is i.a. the Archive and Collections as well as research, conservation and publishing center.

KL Auschwitz was the largest of the German Nazi concentration camps and extermination centers. Over 1.1 million men, women and children lost their lives here.

The basis for Auschwitz consisted of 22 prewar brick barracks buildings. Over time, the camp expanded steadily in both organizational and spatial terms. At this time, there were about 135 thousand people.
